Q. How long does it take to get to campus from La Jolla Apartments?
A. We are located just one block north of campus. We are only half a block
from Broulims grocery store, the movie theatres, many restaurants, and Main Street.
Q. Why is La Jolla special?
A. For the following reasons:
- La Jolla is only 5 years old. All of our facilities are new. All of the furnishings
that you will find in the apartments are new.
- We offer high-speed internet in each apartment for each girl.
- Our lounge is newly updated with new carpet, big screen TV with VCR/DVD player,
couches and oversized chairs, and a beautiful fireplace

A. La Jolla Apartments is managed by Kirsten and Paul Ellsworth.
Q. Can my daughter request her roommate(s)?
A. Yes, we fill roommate requests.
Q. What extras, other than clothes, should my daughter bring?
A. Dishes, silverware, and utensils. Bathroom linens: towels, washcloths,
etc. Bedding: Sheets, pillow, blankets, and spread.
Q. What extras are furnished with the apartment?
A. All apartments are completely furnished with beds, desks, tables, sofas,
and chairs. In addition, we provide a microwave, dishwasher, food disposal, and
vacuum. There is also a TV and VCR in each apartment.
Q. Will my daughter have privacy when her roommates have boys
in the Apartment?
A. Yes, the BYU-Idaho Honor Code does not allow boys in the girls' bedrooms
or Bathrooms.
Q. Are there other study alternatives besides my daughter's
apartment at La Jolla?
A. Yes, the lounge is on the west end of the large building. There are
couches and chairs in there for studying. There is also a new computer lab just
above the lounge on the 3rd floor with unlimited internet access. The library
on campus is also another option.
Q. Can my daughter practice the piano?
A. Yes, La Jolla has a brand new Samick piano in our new music room on the
3rd floor above the lounge that is available to all Tenants of La Jolla.
Q. Is there parking for my daughter's car?
A. Yes, La Jolla has ample parking. There is a large, lighted parking lot
just in front Of the complex.
Q. What recreation activities are nearby?
A. La Jolla offers the girls the option of reserving the lounge. They may
do that Through the manager. They may have a movie night, birthday party, etc. The
student center has a cafeteria, an indoor track, basketball courts, a pool, several
volleyball courts, a bowling alley, a theater and a game room with pool, ping-pong,
and video games.
Q. Where can my daughter do her laundry?
A. La Jolla has a laundry room with coin operated washers and dryers. It is
next to The lounge so she can study or watch TV while doing laundry. The washers
are $1.00 to wash and the dryers are one quarter for every 23 minutes to dry. There
is also a laundry mat located 1 block south West.
Q. Where does my daughter attend church?
A. La Jolla is grouped into about 5 different wards. Each ward meets on
campus and Consists of men and women from other complexes.
Q. Where can my daughter buy groceries?
A. La Jolla is located just half of a block from the Broulims grocery store.
They will Deliver groceries.
Q. Where can my daughter shop?
A. BYU-Idaho has a student center with most necessary sundries. She can also
walk Or take a bus to downtown, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, and numerous fast food restaurants.
Q. Who makes repairs to the apartment?
A. La Jolla's manager, Paul Ellsworth, is the resident maintenance
man. He is Very interested in the appearance and maintaining the condition of the
apartments. Your daughter needs only to fill out a maintenance request card and
drop it by the office. We take great pride in keeping La Jolla Apartments in good
repair.
Q. Can my daughter stay at La Jolla Apartments during the summer?
A. Yes, La Jolla rents to students for summer sessions. One of our
many great facets Is that we offer contracts for all options of the BYU-Idaho track
system.
Q. What is a Resident Assistant?
A. La Jolla has a Resident Assistant (RA) for each apartment who assists
the Managers. She helps with nightly apartment curfew and guys out checks, clean
checks, as well as any minor problems with the apartments and girls. She is always
available for "girl talk," as well as anything else the girls might need.
Q. Can my daughter become an RA?
A. Yes. Towards the beginning of each semester we take applications
to fill any open Positions we might have. The manager will hold interviews.
Q. Is there somewhere my daughter can exercise?
A. Yes, La Jolla has a brand new exercise room equipped with treadmills,
ellipticals, a bike, and bowflex machine. There are able to use it from 5:00am
until curfew.
Q. Is there somewhere nearby that my daughter can get her hair
done?
A. La Jolla has a new hair and nail salon available to our tenants
just above the lounge on the 3rd floor. Each month they can receive one of
the following for FREE: Pedicure, manicure, or haircut.
